SUBLUXATION

Subluxation simply put is a blockage.  The word subluxation can be broken down as,
"sub" = less than,   "lux" = light or life,   and "ation" is a state of being.

What is a Subluxation?  A Subluxation is an area of interference or blockage in the nerve system. Much like the static that happens with a cellular phone when there is interference in the phone signal, interference in the nerves creates static in the nerve messages. Sometimes the messages are interrupted, sometimes they are completely cut off, but most often the interference results in an increase in nerve activity which can result in pain, dis-ease and dis-function.

Chronic pain among adults has been measured at up to 41% of the population in both developed and developing countries. If we talk about Canada, in a 2016 survey, 15% of post-secondary students in Ontario said they'd been treated for depression or diagnosed with it in the previous year. For anxiety, the figure was 18%. (1)
In the United States chronic pain is estimated to affect more than 100 million adults, producing over $600 billion dollars of direct and indirect costs each year. Low back and neck pain, specifically, account for the greatest cause of disability in both men and women in most countries worldwide. (2)

What does the Nervous System do? Your nervous system is the master system of your whole body.  It runs and regulates movement, bodily function and is also how you feel pain and symptoms.  When you are subluxated this can impair the function of the associated muscles, bones and even tissues and organs.   When you are living with subluxations you are expressing less than your full life potential.  Living with subluxations decreases your ability to function and grow optimally leading to a life less than you were intended to live.

Causes of Subluxations? Subluxations are caused by Stress!  When life is more than you can handle, whether it be physical, mental, emotional or chemical experiences this results as stress and is stored in your body which results in subluxation. The American Medical Association recognizes that 80% of all disease is due to stress.  Know that with each adjustment you are addressing the primary cause of disease.  Chiropractors adjust subluxations helping the body integrate the stored stress, teaching your body to adapt and thrive, supporting your Master Control System to function at its optimal potential, building health from the inside out.

B.J. Palmer, who is considered as the “developer” of chiropractic, coined the term “above-down-inside-out” to refer to the notion that the innate intelligence of the body controls healing from inside out and chiropractic intervention assists the body to optimize and achieve self-healing.(2)
